| Munich, April 3, 2006 – Increasing time and cost pressure is characteristic of the construction industry. Specialization and division of work between the professionals and companies involved in the building process are increasing, as the tasks involved are becoming ever more complex. Vendors of software and consulting services for the building industry play a key role in solving these challenges. With this in mind, how can the design, construction and management of buildings be optimized? This is the key issue at the international “buildingSMART“ conference on April 5 in Munich. The Nemetschek Group sees the answer in increased integration of processes and services with IT-supported building models.
Seamless IT Solutions for better Efficiency in the Design and Building Process
Nemetschek, the leading technology company for the design, construction and management of buildings and real estate worldwide, will provide important impulses at the conference. Chairman of the Managing Board, Gerhard Weiß: “`building smart`, that is, intelligent planning and building, is the core idea behind our technology development for the benefit of our customers. We are the only company to consider buildings and real estate in their entire life cycle and support all the associated business processes with seamless IT solutions.“ Three-dimensional building models generated on a computer already contain information about the planned materials, functional properties of a component, topological dependencies, and the resulting costs and building schedules. Nemetschek wants to press ahead with the further development of this intelligent building model (BIM: Building Information Model).
Integration strategies for building design, construction and management
With more than 300 participants, including representatives from public authorities, project development, the construction industry as well as architects, engineers and vendors of IT solutions, the “buildingSMART“ conference stands for hands-on information exchange and groundbreaking visions. The patron of this years conference, the 10th Industry Day of the IAI (International Alliance for Interoperability), is Christian Ude, Mayor of Munich.
As part of the conference, Nemetschek is presenting integration strategies for building design, construction and management. “Nemetschek’s vision is to make available all the necessary data anywhere, at any time, worldwide. Architects, civil engineers, principals, investors, building contractors, facility or real estate managers – all need to be able to utilize each other’s data without any loss of information or redundancies and thus be in a position to solve their tasks far more efficiently“, says Gerhard Weiß. For the German market, building design and building in the existing fabric are gaining in importance. Building investments are shifting increasingly in the direction of renovation of existing buildings and modernization.

Today, cost and planning security play a decisive role in the building and real estate industry. Nemetschek’s software solutions allow building costs to be calculated more efficiently and precisely, thus reducing any discrepancies significantly.
