| Nemetschek promotes the standardization of
PDF in architecture and engineering | | |

| Munich, September 18, 2006 – The Nemetschek group, one of the world’s leading technology companies for the design, construction and management of buildings and real estate, will collaborate with Adobe Systems in order to promote the use of Adobe’s PDF format in architecture and engineering. That is why Nemetschek has licensed Adobe’s PDF Library Software Developer Kit as well as services and support provided by Adobe’s partner Datalogics. As a first step, Nemetschek will integrate the import and export of data into its programs Allplan, Cinema 4D and VectorWorks based on the original Adobe PDF libraries.
Through the use of PDF and their corresponding products, Nemetschek and Adobe aim to offer their customers comprehensive solutions for the reliable exchange of information within technical project teams. For example, customers will be able to output data-intensive PDF files from their software applications. These files will feature additional intelligent functions, such as design layers, scale information, searchable text and 3D models.
Optimization of the coordination process within technical project teams
Nemetschek customers can convert their CAD models into PDF format to optimize the processes involved in collaborating with documents. For example, complex project-related information, such as design drawings, project plans or images from different sources can be merged into a single PDF document. As a result, simple construction coordination processes are within reach – processes that include all participants without technical complications and that facilitate secure release procedures. In the future the key term will be “PDF-Round-Trip-Workflow”.

How Allplan users benefit: Established PDF functions in CAD systems are increased significantly according to planners' needs. Not only is it possible to create PDF files with layer structures directly from Allplan as usual, but PDF files can also be re-imported in Allplan. This enables customers to communicate more efficiently and facilitates collaboration with all members of an extended team - in almost all locations, with a variety of software applications and file formats.
