Usability is a decisive factor when it comes to introducing Allplan to newcomers or training experienced users. Taking this into account, Nemetschek focused it's development work on Allplan 2006 improving both ergonomics and performance. Another important criteria is the performance of a program. Consequently, Allplan 2006 offers a wide range of new and advanced features:

In Version 2006 additional Snap Points have been added to include tangential points, quadrant points and reference points of dimension lines. More snap points and options are available for track tracing. Track lines facilitate the intuitive design process and saves time and effort as you can bypass the process of drawing construction lines. By pointing to existing elements, this new feature allows you to add up to a maximum of five track points - "collected” track points are assigned symbols and define the type of track lines the program displays.

Advanced features for Handles and Element Selection
Handles were introduced in the last version for a number of design entities. These handles have been revised, thus simplifying the process of navigating and working in Allplan 2006 considerably. These intelligent handles provide additional support when you use Allplan as a layout tool.

Better performance when Zooming and Panning
Allplan 2006 uses a new optimized display list thus accelerating refresh operations considerably. Never before have you been able to pan and soom that quickly (even when large volumes of data are involved and your hardware is only of average quality.)

Improved Hidden Line
The Hidden Line Image, Wireframe tool has been revised: the result of the calculation is not automatically saved to a drawing file. Rather, a NDW-format file is created. Only when you close this NDW file will Allplan ask whether you want to save the result to a drawing file. This way, you can quickly and easily create hidden line images without having to delete the drawing files, which were created automatically in earlier versions. In addition, drawing file names can be entered immediately.

Undo Steps Even after Saving
The Undo tool is always available, and you can go back as many
steps as you want, even after saving.

Collaboration and Administration
The resolution of pixel images, color gradients, and OLE objects can now be configured during PDF export


Exporting Drawing Files as X-Refs
When working with Allplan on a project specific basis you can choose whether to úse a structure with reference drawing files or use X-Refs, in AutoCad only X-Refs can be used. When working with reference drawing files, you can now configure the program to convert this structure to a structure consisting of X-Refs during export. In other words, Allplan 2006 translates the structure for the destination system i.e. AutoCAD. When importing data you can specify whether X-Ref files from AutoCAD files are trasfered as X-Refs or drawing file stacks.
