Based on a 3D grid, the geometry of steel structures can be defined quickly. Straight or curved steel members, to which haunches can be added, are placed in three-dimensional space. Allplan comes with a library including a wide range of standard steel profiles, sheet-welded sections through to cold-formed profiles.





User-definable priority ratings can be assigned to beams, columns, rafters, purlins, etc. This option allows you define how elements behave when they intersect. In addition to steel sections, plates can also be defined for roof cladding, walls, etc. Templates are available for automatically creating frequently used structural parts such as portal frames, wind braces, roofs etc. Using these templates, you can enter data even quicker. Templates are provided for steel detailing (bolted and welded connections: endplates, bolts, anchors, stiffeners, etc.).
An optional bi-directional link to analysis/design software (SCIA · ESA Professional Technology) is also available. This link enables you to optimize your data and reduces the double data entry required by conventional systems. Allplans standard detailing and drafting tools are available to modify and detail elements.
