Improvements in the Smart Symbol Catalogue
Hiding empty folders
The smart symbol catalogue of the office standard provides various predefined folders which contain smart symbols depending on the type of installation you have performed. But these folders cannot be deleted otherwise problems may occur when you purchase and install additional smart symbol catalogues later.
But, if only a few catalogs actually contain smart symbols, you may
have difficulties when it comes to looking for a specific smart
symbol. Now you can use the shortcut menu of the office standard to hide the empty folders:


Renaming smart symbols - case sensitivity
Up to now the smart symbol catalog (and the ProjectPilot, too) has
not been ‘case-sensitive‘; in other words, when you have used small letters for the names of smart symbol folders, you could not rename them so that they were uppercase - this is possible now.

Plot Layout
Archiving Layouts using EDM Programs
The interface from Allplan 2003 to EDM (Electronic Document Management) programs enables users to use EDM programs to archive and document CAD layouts created in Allplan 2003.
Note: The connection to the DocuWare EDM program developed by DocuWare AG, a partner of Nemetschek AG, has already been
configured and is immediately ready for use.
In Allplan 2003, the layouts are archived in the Plot Layout module
by means of the Plot Layouts tool. The parameters which are used to archive layouts by means of EDM programs are set in the Archiving tab.

After you have confirmed the settings, Allplan 2003 creates two files
and saves them to any directory of your choice. Then the EDM
program can process these files:

- One file in TIFF format

- One XML file containing further information to be used for indexing. The XML file can include the project attributes available and assigned in Allplan and/or the layout attributes.

You can configure the selection of the target directory to which the
TIFF file(s) and the corresponding XML file(s) are saved in Allplan.
Moreover, you can also define the configuration of the Windows
application or the EDM program to be started.
You can use any folders in the file system for the transfer directory.
When an application (EXE) has to be started so that the EDM program can archive the data automatically, you can use a dialog box provided in Allplan 2003 to configure the path to and the name of this application.
Now you can use the functions of the EDM program to continue working. For example, the EDM program could monitor the defined directory, it could be started by means of the relevant dialog box and could import the two files. The information contained in the XML file can be transferred to the database boxes of the EDM system.

Layers
Setting the ‘From Layer’ format property later
Now the ‘From Layer’ format property can be removed and added at a later stage: click Modify Format Properties.

The ‘Remove, Add ‘From Layer‘ option (only possible for pen
thickness, linetype and line color) is applied as follows:

>	When the check box is enabled, the ‘From Layer’ format property is added.
>	When the check box is disabled, the ‘From Layer’ format property is removed.

All the other modification options for format properties are not
available.

Visibility of current layer is displayed in the symbol
You can change the visibility of the current layer quickly and easily
via the shortcut menu of an element on the current layer or by selecting Modify Format Properties. Now the visibility of the current layer is also displayed in the symbol in the Layer dialog box.

Activate the Layer dialog box by means of an element’s shortcut
menu or by clicking Modify Format Properties.

You can change the visibility in two ways:

>	Click the current layer and switch to another visibility by pressing the space bar (Current - Modifiable - Visible, frozen - Invisible, frozen).
>	Click the current layer with the right mouse button and select the visibility on the shortcut menu.

The visibility is displayed in the symbol as usual:
