 | Animated rooms: How the architectural office Kauffmann Theilig & Partner realizes architecture as three-dimensional communication
"We convey identity with the help of rooms."
Spectacular trade stand architecture represents one of the main focuses in their work and has won the office solid name recognition. Every year for more than twelve years, the office has been designing stands on big trade fairs worldwide.

This could lead one to think that KTP is more oriented towards interior design. However, KTP is a traditional architectural office; a fact which becomes clear as soon as one approaches their office building in Ostfildern. Despite austere surroundings, the office building constructed 17 years ago is one of the first buildings desig- ned by KTP and it leaves a positive and refreshing impression.

Unpretentious in its details but conveying a clear architectural style, KTP’s corporate personality is clearly perceptible to its tenants. This added value created by sensible architecture provides an economic surplus value: The investor earns more rent! For KTP it is that simple. A building is always more than a housing; it should convey identity and cultural passion - this is the keystone of KTP design. |

KTP acknowledges that their expertise and focus on trade stand architecture has become formative for a design style which inspires spacial fascination, even in the classical field of building construction.

Designing trade displays, i.e. rooms which convey identity is one thing, but actually applying this knowledge to building construction is quite another. The means are clearer, and above all, more durable; and longevity can hamper creativity. KTP recognizes that quantity surveyers, facility managers and cost planners are persons on the front line of concern for a building’s longevity. Consequently, KTP applies a great deal of consideration for not only design uniqueness but construction integrity as well.
