 | Planning concept implemented successfully

The challenge of the new building project for Vienna North railway station was to provide building services for commercial use in the form of a shopping center for one of Vienna’s biggest and most important transport nodes, serving around 70,000 passengers a day. The office of Altherm Engineering has taken on responsibility for the building’s technical facilities. They, in turn, rely on Nemetschek for an intelligent technical building software solution.
All considerations during the new building project for Vienna North railway station were based on striking a balance between technical safety aspects, and the implementation of a business solution for a shopping center with a high number of visitors, independent of ground floor usage. A utility collector was set up as an energy channel below the station to supply power to all rental areas and adjoining areas, as well as to the train station. This energy channel connects all the exchanges and also represents an important facility for future solutions for the property. The new building project for Vienna North railway station is intended to show that a complex and work-intensive system is not necessary to achieve the building’s objectives, but a simple and flexible solution can be used to provide varied usage including shopping areas.

The entire new Vienna North railway station building will be served by two central air conditioning systems. All the building’s technical facilities were planned using AX3000 from Nemetschek.
